DELTA PRINCE c, 3, Street Cry (Ire)

1st Dam: Delta Princess (MGSW, $740,918), by A.P. Indy
2nd Dam: Lyphard’s Delta, by Lyphard
3rd Dam: Proud Delta, by Delta Judge

Delta Prince, a half to Royal Delta (Empire Maker), Ch. 3yo Filly, Ch. Older Mare twice & MGISW, $4,811,126, took a big step toward living up to his pedigree with an impressive maiden-breaking effort in his turf debut at Gulfstream, earning the ‘TDN Rising Star’ distinction in the process. An even and green third in his debut sprinting on the Belmont dirt Oct. 2, the homebred improved to be second going a mile over the Aqueduct main Nov. 12. Getting first-time Lasix and switching surfaces at 18-5 here, Delta Prince angled over from the 12-post and stalked Shadwell import Mutazen (Candy Ride {Arg}) from a close-up second through a :23.28 quarter. Turning up the pressure by a :48.51 half, the dark bay matched strides with the frontrunner until just outside the eighth pole, where he put that foe away and finished full of run, widening to a four-length success in 1:35.01. Notion Sonet (Notional) nailed the pacesetter late for second.

In addition to Royal Delta, Delta Prince is a half to Crown Queen (Smart Strike), GISW, $593,000; and Carnival Court (Street Sense), GISP, $161,662. He is the final foal out of Delta Princess, who was euthanized in 2014 due to a degenerative stifle condition. Delta Princess was a full to GISW Indy Five Hundred and a half to Italian G1SW and freshman sire Biondetti (Bernardini). Third dam Proud Delta was Champion Older Mare in 1976 and a MGISW as well. Lifetime Record: 3-1-1-1, $41,100. Click for the Equibase.com chart or Equineline.com catalogue-style pedigree. VIDEO, sponsored by Fasig-Tipton.
